DPF Symbols
Understand dashboard symbols which indicate DPF problems, so you know when to seek expert servicing as soon as possible.
DPF / Exhaust Filter Light
Symbol: A rectangular outline with dotted circles inside (representing soot).
Meaning: The DPF is becoming clogged and needs regeneration (a long drive at higher revs usually clears it).
Check Engine Light (MIL)
Symbol: A yellow engine outline.
Meaning: Often triggered with DPF issues — may indicate regeneration failed or excessive soot build-up.
DPF + Exclamation Mark
Symbol: Filter outline with wavy heat lines.
Meaning: DPF regeneration process active or required soon.
Glow Plug / Preheat Light Flashing
Symbol: Spiral coil shape (normally for diesel preheating).
Meaning: If flashing, it often indicates a DPF or emissions-related issue.
AdBlue / DEF Light (if applicable)
Symbol: Fluid droplet or exhaust with lines.
Meaning: Not a DPF fault itself, but commonly related — poor SCR or NOx reduction can affect DPF efficiency.
